Издание La Repubblica утверждает, что Баку несколько месяцев вёл переговоры с Римом о закупке оружия на 1-2 млрд евро. Переговоры провалились из-за отказа итальянского ведомства UAMA продавать оружие стране, которая участвует в конфликте, пишет "Спутник Ближнее зарубежье". Газета отмечает, что "теперь Азербайджан ищет альтернативу в Турции и Израиле". "Италия опасается, что ситуация скажется на поставках азербайджанского газа, за счет которого Рим собирался компенсировать частичную потерю российского голубого топлива. Среди необходимых Азербайджану продуктов итальянского ВПК называются стрелковое вооружение, артиллерия, зенитные комплексы, транспортные самолеты и подводные лодки",- говорится в статье.
